Summary:
Under the direction of the Consultation Coordinator, and the SCN Organization Structure, the TC Energy Liaison assists the Consultation office with all proposed and existing projects from TC Energy . The Liaison will be the initial point of contact for all TC Energy Related Projects, assisting in facilitating Consultation between TC Energy and Samson Cree Nation, as well as Conducting activities in relation to the Consultation Department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Serve as a single point of contact for TC Energy
• Engage for the life cycle for all TC Energy Projects within Samson Cree Nation Territory
• Providing logistics for each study.
• Work as a liaison between the nation, contractors, and Monitors, pertaining to TC Energy /SCN Consultation projects.
• Creating a timeline, work plan, and budget for each study.
• Proactively plan, establish priorities, and allocate resources efficiently.
• Contribute to the SCN knowledge base.
• Meet with TC Energy Monthly, and meet with the TC Energy Indigenous Relations Business Engagement (IRBE) Team
• Apply for Funding Grants as needed pertaining to TC Energy Projects.
• Update and maintain SCN vendors list, contractors list, monitors list and share with TC Energy on a continuous basis.
• Provide support and back up to other areas within the Consultation Team as required.
• Reporting to the Consultation Coordinator, Business Development Senior Manager, and Business Development Committee.
• Community Engagement sessions on consultation projects as needed.
• Educate and advise Industry and Government on Indigenous rights, lands, culture and interests.
• Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the Consultation Office.
• Increase community awareness on TC Energy Projects pertaining to Samson Cree Nation.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Provide Weekly updates to the Coordinator, and Monthly reports to the Senior Manager.
• Represent SCN at external meetings, forums and workshops as assigned, or required in the performance of the Consultation TC Energy responsibilities,
• Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with policies, standards, protocols and procedures of the SCN as directed,
• Contribute effectively as a team member to the overall plans and objectives of SCN,
• Participating in all applicable initiatives, workshops, conferences, and meetings.
• Must be able to create and submit Band Council Resolutions for Recommendation
• Submit invoices and create budgets for relevant projects.
• Follow through on each file that is assigned with Samson's Consultation process. • • Assist Project Proponent with consultation related activities (i.e. schedule Open Houses, Traditional Land Use studies, recommend BCR's for council approval, etc.)
• Oversee implementation of signed agreements on a yearly basis
• Oversee review of signed agreements on a yearly basis
• Assist with Provincial and Federal Regulatory Process
• Work with communications department to get relevant information to Community
• Implementation of mitigation plan in collaboration with the legal team and consultation
team
• Provide Support to the Coordinator, Project Officer, Traditional Land Use Lead, and Financial Admin as needed
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary in the performance of the position, and as assigned by the Consultation Coordinator.
Knowledge and Abilities:
• Degree in a related field
• Knowledgeable about Ethnographic Research methods.
• Knowledgeable about Community Based Research methods
• Knowledgeable about Archival research.
• Must be able to work within an office space as well as in the fieldwork when needed
• Ability to take direction and work with no supervision.
• Awareness of Intellectual Property
• Awareness of negotiation and litigation with government and industry in relation to Treaty and Aboriginal Rights
• Community engagement facilitation skills (large groups, small groups, workshops, Indigenous Knowledge interviews)
• Ability to record accurate notes, and record keeping,
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong active listening skills,
• Proven planning, prioritizing, organizing and coordination skills,
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful and effective relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts,
• Has an understanding of Samson Cree Nation culture, demonstrates cultural competency and sensitivity towards SCN cultural traditions with the ability to use sound judgment and diplomacy in high stress/conflict situations,
• Demonstrated adaptable skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment,
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment,
• Advanced computer skills and use of MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and statistics/data analysis software,
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s Degree or Related Post-Secondary Diploma in Environmental Science, Business Administration, Communications or related field of study
● Clear Criminal Record Check
● Must Submit a Resume, copy of Class 5 Drivers License with application
● Ability to speak/and or understand the Cree language is considered an asset Certification in Project Management is considered an asset
● Must have own transportation and will be required to provide proof of registration and insurance for their vehicle
Education: Bachelor’s Degree OR Related Post-Secondary Diploma
Salary: Negotiable based on education, experience and skills
