Maskwacis Cultural College- PRESIDENT/CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Maskwacis Cultural College is an Indigenous post-secondary institution located on the Samson Cree Nation, in Maskwacis, Alberta.  The College is governed by a Board of Governors comprising leadership from the Four Nations of the Maskwacis.  Samson Cree Nation, Montana Band, Ermineskin Cree Nation and Louis Bull Tribe.  The Board of Governors are the primary policy making body of the College.

The College offers a variety of academic, professional and vocational programming certificate and diploma courses, which serve the needs of communities, First Nations governments, businesses and industry.  The College currently offers the first two years toward university transfer in Social Work, Education and Business.

The President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) shall be the executive head of the College and the Chairman of the Faculty of the College.  Reporting to the Board of Governors, the President/CEO has the responsibility for ensuring the Board has the necessary resources to undertake their responsibilities.  The President/CEO will carry out the strategic directives of the Board and ensure proper administration of all policies and procedures; ensure the legal and fiduciary requirements of the Board and College are met with respect to employment regulations, budgeting and financial reporting, providing multi-year forecasts, minimizing the organizations risk, protecting its assets and ensuring the preparation of an annual audit by Board selected auditors.  The President/CEO will contribute to the growth and development of the College in keeping with the mission, vision, and values of their founders, and will demonstrate a commitment to high academic standards, the success of Indigenous students, and excellence in teaching and learning.

Relevant Experience

·        At least five years in senior management and supervision

·        Prior higher education, advocacy, and non-profit leadership experience ideal.

·        Community College teaching experience

  • Should have the ability to speak and understand Cree

  • Should have a strong understanding of the Cree way of life.

Qualifications

·        Education: Minimum of Master’s degree in Education required from a recognized University

Conditions

·        Offer will be subject to clear Criminal Record and background checks

·        Successful candidate must be available to travel, have their own vehicle and Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License.

Salary: Negotiable
