POSITION: JR WATER & WASWEWATER OPERATOR
DEPARTMENT: TIPAHASKAHN KAMIK NIPIY DEPARTMENT
Summary:
Under the direction of the Nipiy Manager, the Junior Water Operator reports directly to the Senior Waste and Water Operator as an assistant mentoring under the Senior Water & Wastewater Operator. The Junior Operator is responsible for the overall office and field duties related to working on Nation member homes that are on active drinking water advisories in Samson Cree Nation and Pigeon Lake to provide the necessary supports in the day to day Operations and Maintenance of Samson Cree Nation and Pigeon Lake Samson homes septic systems and water wells. This is a 2 Year Term contract position, with the ability to extend as required. Successful applicants will adhere to the following duties, roles and responsibly requirements of this position:
Duties and responsibilities
Assist in well servicing Operations
· Support senior operators and technicians in maintaining and repairing water wells.
· Operate and handle tools, Pumps, and other well-servicing equipment.
· Monitor well performance and assist in troubleshooting issues.
Well maintenance and repairs
· Assist in pulling and replacing well components such as pumps, pipes and screens.
· Help clean and disinfect wells to ensure water quality.
· Support rehabilitation of wells affected by clogging, corrosion, or mechanical failures.
Equipment handline and Safety compliance· Load, unload, and set up equipment at jobs sites.
· Follow safety protocols and war required personal protective equipment.
· Assist in maintaining tools, vehicles, and equipment in good working condition
Water testing and Quality Control
· Collect Water samples for testing and assist in conducting basic water quality checks in consult with the Nipiy Technicians
· Record Observations and report abnormalities to senior operators or Supervisors.
Site Preparation and Cleanup
· Help prepare work areas by setting up barricades, tools, and materials.
· Ensure proper cleanup of the site after servicing activities.
· Follow environmental protection procedures to minimize contamination risks.
Documentation and Reporting
· Assisting in maintaining logs of well servicing activities on the LOUIS Toolkit
· Report findings, incidents, and maintenance needs to supervisors on the LOUIS Toolkit and on an as needed basis
· Work closely with nipiy Manager, Supervisor and Senior Operators of Water & Wastewater, Team Contract Leaders, environmental experts, supporting consultants, and community members as designated or assigned to ensure the program’s objectives align with community needs
Learning and Development
· Participate in on-the-job training and certification programs.
· Develop knowledge of well drilling, servicing, and repair techniques.
· Stay update on industry regulations and safety standards.
· Participate in Cultural activities hosted by the Nipiy Department and/or Nation
Qualifications
• Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent, project management training is an asset
• Able to operate heavy equipment
• Must have Confined Space Entry & Rescue, or be willing to train Basic Safety online courses
• Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel), experience with GIS software is an asset
• Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle; Class 1 or 3 is also an asset0
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of the Cree language would be an asset
• Comfortable working in office and field environments, working with little direction or supervision
• Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and handle a large volume of work in a timely manner
• Adherence to the Samson Cree Nation NEP Manual is mandatory at all times

POSITION: Community Climate Health & Adaptation
Program Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: TIPAHASKAHN KAMIK NIPIY DEPARTMENT
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and community-oriented individual to join our team as the
Community Climate Health and Adaptation Program (CCHAP) Coordinator. The CCHAP Coordinator will play a crucial role in engaging with different segments of our community-youth, general community members, and leadership- to foster awareness and action towards climate change adaptation. This full-time position involves organizing three key engagements, a land-based teaching event, culminating in the production of a compelling video that captures these community interactions and promotes dialogue and action on climate adaptation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage three core community
groups: youth, General community, and Leadership.
This involves organizing meetings, workshops, and events that facilitate meaningful dialogue on climate change and adaptation.
Event Planning and Management
Coordinate all aspects of the engagement events, including logistics, participant recruitment,
content development, and facilitation. Ensure each event is tailored to its audience and
objectives, providing a platform for education, dialogue, and community-led initiatives.
Content Creation and Curation
Capture the essence of community engagements through video. This includes planning,
storyboarding, and overseeing the production of a video that showcases the nations
perspectives, concerns, and commitments towards climate adaptation.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with Leaders, environmental experts, supporting consultants, and community
groups to ensure the program’s objectives align with community needs and climate adaptation
goals.
Monitoring and Reporting
Track the progress of community engagements and video production, evaluating their impact on
community awareness and action towards climate change adaptation. Prepare reports and
presentations that highlight achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
Qualifications
• Minimum High School Diploma
• Class 5 driver’s license
• Experience with computer programs (Word, Excel)
• Experience in community engagement, event coordination, or project management.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work effectively
with other departments.
• Creativity and vision in storytelling and content creation, with some experience in video
production is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of climate change issues and adaptation strategies, with a passion for
environmental advocacy and community empowerment is considered an asset.

Under the direction of the Nipiy Manager, the Household Water Treatment Installation Technician (Plumber) is responsible for the overall office and field duties related to installation of approximately 200 water treatment units in Nation member homes that are on active drinking water advisories in Samson Cree Nation and Pigeon Lake. This is a 6-month contract position, with the ability to extend as required. Successful applicants will adhere to the following requirements of this position:
Duties and Responsibilities
· Reports and attends the regularly scheduled bi-weekly Tool Box Meeting
· Is willing, ready and able to take related training as approved by the Nipiy Manager for household water treatment unit installation with the Nation’s supplier
· Pick up water treatment units for installation from warehouse/supplier and prepare them for installation
· Ensure the Nation has adequate plumbing parts needed to complete the installations and work alongside the Field Site Supervisor & Nipiy Manager to ensure parts are procured as needed
· Install and commission water treatment units in Nation member homes, as identified by the Household Water Treatment Installation Coordinator
· Conduct plumbing repairs, as directed, in specified Nation homes to support the delivery of treated water in the home.
· Document daily work activities using the LOUIS Toolkit
· Investigate reports of water treatment issues to determine any deficiencies in the equipment and on-site requirements
· Effectively work alongside the Household Water Treatment Installation Technician Assistant to install water treatment units
· Respectfully and politely interact with Nation members while working in their home, including keeping the work area clean.
Geographic Information System Data Collection Field Work
· Collects installation data in the Nation’s GIS System Software (LOUIS Toolkit) as outlined in the Field Work Forms. This includes collection of photos, site information and resident information.
Reporting
· Ensures daily field Reports, hazards, issues/concerns and findings summarizing water treatment unit installation are entered into the LOUIS Toolkit on a daily basis
· Provides information from daily findings to the Nipiy Team to assist in communications and schedule coordination of water treatment unit installation between home occupants and the Band Office
Equipment Maintenance
· Maintains and tests equipment regularly to ensure the safety and accurate end results of service delivered
· Maintains, tests and calibrates tablets for LOUIS Toolkit daily prior to service delivery on-site
