Director with the Ermineskin Property & Infrastructure department

CLOSING: November 18, 2025

Contract Position

Under the direction of the Tribal Administrator, the Director of Property and Infrastructure Management is responsible for overall policy development, program planning, fiscal management, administration, and operation of the departments under the Property and Infrastructure Management Division. The Director will also foster cooperative working relationships with ECN staff, Chief and Council, ECN citizens, and external agencies. The Director will be responsible for overseeing the management of the following departments Property Management, CMHC, Fire & Disaster Protection Services, Public Works, Technical Services and ECN Security.


MANAGEMENT DUTIES:

1. Supervise operations and management of the departments under the Property and Infrastructure Management division.

2. Ensure and assist in the review and update of Departments policies and ensure proper implementation of such policies.

3. Oversee the preparation of annual budgets for Departments under Property and Infrastructure Management division.

4. Monitor financial income statements monthly and meet with Manager(s) to obtain clarification if a challenge, variance or risk arises. If a matter cannot be resolved with the Manager to notify and provide recommendations to the Tribal Administrator and/or Finance Director of problem accounts/projects.

5. Oversee Departments’ strategic planning implementation and participate in strategic plan annual reviews.

6. Assist when requested by Department Managers proper development of contracts, negotiating with contractors that are in the best interest of the Ermineskin Tribe.

7. Adhere and support implementation of applicable Human Resources Policies and Procedures, Finance Law and other laws or policies applicable to the Departments under this Division.

8. Attend meetings when requested by the Chief and Council and/or the Tribal Administrator.

9. Provide guidance, support, and recommendations to the Department Managers as they request it about concerns, problems or risks related to operations or management activities within their department.

10. Prepare quarterly reports and submit to the Tribal Administrator.

11. Remain in the office as much as possible to address concerns from the Portfolio-holder, Tribal Administrator, Finance Director, Tribal Member and Managers.

12. Assist with site visits/inspections as requested by the Department Manager with projects and to assist the Manager in reporting to the Tribal Administrator, the Chief and Council or ECN citizens on any concerns, problems, risks, or results relevant to Property and Infrastructure Management division.

13. Attend and make presentations with the applicable Manager at general meetings or budget presentations as requested.

14. Attend workshops, conferences, seminars, and relevant training programs to enhance skills and knowledge for the position as requested.

15. Carry out Chief and Council and the Tribal Administrator’s directives.

16. Meet Quarterly with managers in the division to ensure effective operations and management within departments.


EMPLOYEE RELATIONS:

1. Work in a business-like manner and maintain a good working relationship with Ermineskin Cree Nation staff, ECN citizens, other agencies, and external organizations.

2. Assist in resolving employee problems and concerns of employees under this Division with the Managers as requested by the Manager and if unable to resolve, to recommend the best course of action to the Tribal Administrator. In the event the matter is justified and concerns the Manager, to recommend the best course of action in handling to the Tribal Administrator. In both instances the Human Resource Policy and Procedure Manual guidelines must be followed prior to making recommendations.

3. Conduct quarterly meetings with departments under the Division to ensure open communication and transfer of information is done.

4. Assist in educating ECN citizens of the Divisions’ operations; and participate with community consultations as it relates to Property and Infrastructure Management. 5. Perform annual evaluations of Managers and any other staff as requested.

6. Meet with Manager to review justification of concerns prior to disciplinary action to the Manager and to any other staff that the Manager has requested assistance with. If the matter cannot be resolved between all parties (Director, Personnel Director & Manager) then the matter to be dealt with through arbitration to include affected parties.

7. Coach and guide Managers to reach or maintain a high level of staff morale and production.


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Post-Secondary degree in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, Business or combination of ten (10) years related to education or experience.

2. Minimum five (5) years Government & Public Relations, Capital Budgeting, Administration, Planning & Development and Strategic Planning.

3. Minimum of five (5) years’ managerial experience with some knowledge around Property & Infrastructure.

4. Experience in management, public relations, finance, administration, and law.

5. Provide strong leadership and direction.

6. Ethical and integrity with decision making.

7. Deal effectively with stress.

8. Ability to meet deadlines.

9. Have a working knowledge of the Ermineskin Cree Nation Government, its systems, organization and structure.

10. Must have knowledge and experience in government-to-government negotiations.

11. Understand and speak the Cree Language an asset.

12. Able to demonstrate the ability to be a successful team player with co-Directors and all Managers under this wing through academic knowledge and professional conduct as a team player.

13. Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.

14. Must be self-motivated.

15. Must have a valid Driver’s License and own transportation.

16. Must be available to travel.

17. Must be available to work overtime as needed/requested

One (1) ECD Level 3 Supervisor with the Ermineskin Daycare Department

CLOSING: November 18, 2025

The Supervisor-Childcare worker’s main responsibility is the wellbeing and safety for daycare children assigned under their care. Is required to faithfully fulfill the implementation of the program, services and policies of the Ermineskin daycare. As a representative of the Ermineskin Day care the incumbent must demonstrate kindness, patience, and respect towards all community members in general, and particular towards those who are obtaining services from the daycare. This person must strictly adhere to the code of ethics established by the Ermineskin Daycare Centre and take an oath of confidentiality. The worker shall always be governed by the employment policy, and professionally prepared as a daycare worker of young children obtaining level 1, 2, 3, of early childhood development education and first-aid in childcare; able to meet the requirements of the licensing agency. This person must be a Cree speaker and should not have any criminal convictions.

HOURS OF WORK: The days and hours of work are Monday to Friday with rotating shifts of 8:00 – 5:00 p.m. seventy-two (72) hrs. Bi-weekly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of the supervisor –childcare worker-childcare assistant include the following:

➢ Assist in the administration of daycare policies, guidelines and procedures

➢ Assist in the preparation of the calculation of children’s hours.

➢ Supervise room childcare workers

➢ Meet with parents and guardians and discuss children’s progress or incident and accidents reports.

➢ Perform other duties that may be assign by the program coordinator and manger

➢ Care for and supervise the well being of the children at all times

➢ Train level 1 co-workers, if they should be experiencing difficulties within children and program planning.

BASIC ABILITIES NEEDED: The supervisor-child care worker-child care Assistant should have:

➢ A warm sympathetic, friendly, personality. They must really enjoy being with children, show it in her behavior and let children feel they can look to them for protection, help and sympathy

➢ Self confidence: the supervisor-child care worker must be able to give children the feeling that they know what they are doing and for what reasons. Their self-confidence helps children feel secure with them.

DEPENDABILITY & STABILITY:

➢ Not only should the supervisor-childcare worker-childcare assistant understand their individual Responsibility for safeguarding, protecting and teaching children, but they must be able to use good judgment in emergencies and their reactions to an unusual behavior by children or colleagues.

ABILITY TO ACCEPT SUPERVISION:

➢ The supervisor – childcare worker-childcare assistant must be able to learn new concepts and know how and when to use what they have learned. They must be capable of accepting criticism undefensively and of continuing to experiment and willing to try new ideas without fear of failure.

GOOD HEALTH:

➢ The supervisor – childcare worker-childcare assistant must be in good physical and mental health, keeping up physically and active children required vigorous activity and sharing the care of a child and realize that they cannot fulfill own emotional needs by becoming a rival with parents for child’s affection.

DAILY JOB ROUTINES:

➢ Provides children programs schedules daily activities to create a balance between active and quiet play.

➢ Report all accidents or emergencies related to the program

➢ Assist children in their daily routine.

MEALS & SNACKS:

➢ Ensure that all staff are sitting down to eat with and supervising children during meals.

➢ Good Manners are suggested; help is offered with children experiencing difficulties.

➢ Does not force children to eat but encourages them.

DIAPER CHANGE & TOILET/HAND WASHING:

➢ The supervisor – childcare worker – childcare assistant accompanies children, as they may need help.

➢ They set up a schedule for taking a few children at a time.

➢ They make sure children learn good habits.

➢ Ensure that co-workers are implementing the diapering and hand washing procedures at all times.

➢ They ensure that staff are always encouraging children to hand wash especially after washrooms use.

SLEEPING OR RESTING/ QUIET TIME:

➢ Supervisor-childcare worker – childcare assistant makes resting time a normal and pleasant part of the routine

➢ The supervisor-childcare worker-childcare assistant does not force the child to sleep

➢ Expect him/her to rest by rubbing his/her back or using other methods they may find effective to encourage quiet time. (i.e.) allow child to read quietly and sit on the rest mat.

WEEKLY:

➢ Use non-punitive (punishment) methods of dealing with out-of-bounds behavior always aware the goal is to develop self-discipline not submission.

➢ Provide a variety of materials selected with the development characteristics of the young child

➢ Arrange toys and materials and make space available for their use so that the child can benefit from them at their level to be made accessible, not too restricted from reaching them.

➢ Give the child free choices of selection of equipment. Observe his/her use of it, stand ready to help him/her and guide them towards new ways of using equipment for enriched achievements.

➢ Make the classroom a place where the child finds order but not regimentation, freedom but not license.

Project Manager Neyaskweyahk 4 Pillars Cree Language and Heritage with the Ermineskin Treaty Governance department

CLOSING: November 18, 2025

The Project Manager of the Cree Language Project is management position under the supervision of the Treaty Governance Director and is responsible for the overall operation and delivery of the Neyaskweyahk Cree Language and Heritage Project, as outlined in the Neyaskweyahk Cree Language and Heritage Terms of Reference and Operations Plan. The Project Manager is responsible for the supervision of staff, contractors and projects of the Neyaskweyahk Cree Language and Heritage Project and will work in consultation with the Cree Language and Heritage Elders Advisory Committee. The Project Manager is a fluent Maskwacîs Cree speaker with strong administrative and management skills. They are responsible for drawing upon the Elders knowledge of Cree Language and the Nation’s history. They are responsible for preparing an annual report for Chief and Council and the 4 Pillars Society.

Duties & Responsibilities:

➢ As outlined in the Terms of Reference develop and implement a model for active participation of nation citizens and staff

➢ Work with the Elders Advisory and language technicians to develop guidelines for assessing language fluency and proficiency among nation citizens and ECN staff ➢ Research and access funding programs that support Cree Language and Heritage initiatives.

➢ Develop cultural resource materials; employ knowledge keepers in the nation in the various culture and language fields.

➢ Develop a Cree Language Instructor training program

➢ Implement culturally appropriate programs

➢ Maintain an inventory of Cree resources available in the nation.

➢ Develop and promote Cree Language and Heritage programming on ECN social media with ECN Communications.

➢ Identify and establish a working relationship with a publishing house that promotes and supports the publication of Indigenous language material.

➢ Establish a Cree Language Center which will provide guidance and support for all aspects of Neyaskweyahk Cree Language and Heritage Division for documentation and intergenerational transmission of Maskwacîs Cree.

➢ Ensure regular communication with the Tribal Administrator: submit quarterly reports

➢ Prepare annual budget and annual reports

➢ Self-motivated with teamwork and good staff management skills

➢ Critical thinking and problem solving

➢ Ensure the outcomes, performance measures and strategic initiatives are met

➢ Track all project costs to ensure completion within budget; procure extra budget funding where necessary e.g. grant applications

Job Requirements:

Part Time Custodian/Janitor with the Ermineskin Neyaskweyahk Employment Skills Training (NEST) department

CLOSING: November 24, 2025

The custodian/janitor is responsible for performing janitorial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties to ensure that the facility is maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. Previous experience is expected but not necessarily required. Janitor would report directly to the manager of NEST. Hours: 3.5 hours daily for a total of 35 hours

Bi-Weekly Job Duties:

➢ Dust/ Wipe down shelves & desks

➢ Wipe down/ disinfect all computers, keyboards, phones

➢ Clean windows throughout NEST offices and classrooms

➢ Sweep & wash floors in each room

➢ Clean and clear front entrance (Fire Hazard)

➢ Gather & replace all garbage bags in All offices/classrooms/bathrooms

➢ Vacuum all carpets

➢ Clean & Disinfect bathrooms; toilets & sinks, replace paper towels, ensure toilet paper is added in all stalls, replace (brown) garbage bags in each stall, replace all soap, sweep and mop.

➢ Clean Staff room, counters, tables/desks

➢ Take out garbage

➢ Ensure front of building is cleared of any garbage; exterior garbage bin should also be cleaned on a regular basis.

➢ Must be able to lift moderately heavy office equipment/supplies

➢ Keep an inventory of cleaning supplies

➢ Open and lock building & gate when necessary

➢ May be required to work evenings and weekends.

Job Qualifications:

➢ Custodial/Janitorial certification or training would be an asset.

➢ Ermineskin Home Maintenance certificate would be an asset.

➢ WHMIS & Standard First Aide

➢ Knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment used to clean buildings and furniture. Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety rules and regulations.

➢ Ability to prioritize the work of others and to organize and coordinate the work of the unit.

➢ Ability to lift heavy objects
