Project Lead (6 Month Temporary Position) - SCN Projects Development/Business Development Pillar

Summary:

Reporting to the Business Development Project Manager, the Project Lead will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving forward multiple business development initiatives that support the goals of the First Nations Child and Family Services (FNCFS) program at Samson Cree Nation.


Duties & Responsibilities:


● Ensure all FNCFS proposals identified in the Samson Cree Nation Business Development work plan are completed accurately and submitted on schedule.

● Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of multiple business development projects connected to the FNCFS mandate, from concept through completion.

● Develop project charters, work plans, budgets, timelines, and risk registers for each initiative, and keep them updated as projects evolve.

● Coordinate internal departments and external contractors/consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to required quality standards.

● Track project performance against milestones; escalate risks and issues to the Business Development Project Manager with recommended solutions.

● Support procurement processes, including developing Request for Quotes (RFQs) and evaluating vendor or contractor submissions.

● Ensure all projects reflect and respect Samson Cree Nation's culture, values, governance structures, and community priorities, particularly as they relate to child and family wellbeing.

● Provide regular verbal and written progress updates to the Business Development Project Manager and Monthly reports to the Senior Manager.

● Understands and adheres to all department policies and procedures,

● Will perform administrative support to the Business Development Project Manager in accomplishing their roles and responsibilities. This includes:

● Produces and/ or assists in the production of all required internal and external reports, regularly review progress on standard department deliverables and takes appropriate action to ensure timely completion of all department tasks,

● Supports the Business Development Project Manager and Business Development Senior Manager as needed in addressing any personnel matters within the department; verifies and records department staff compliance with the department's administrative and financial policies and procedures, including travel expense claims and staff attendance reports,

● Prepares financial, expenditure, payment authorization forms, and administrative documents for authorization by the Manager, such as cheque requisitions and purchase orders.

● Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary in the performance of the position, and as assigned by the Business Development Project Manager.


Knowledge and Abilities:


● Strong understanding of Samson Cree Nation's culture, governance, and community priorities; knowledge of Cree language is an asset.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report and proposal writing.

● Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.

● Sound financial acumen, including budget development and monitoring.

● Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc) and virtual meeting platforms.

● High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive family and community information.

● Self-directed with strong organizational and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.


Qualifications:


● Education in a related field of Project Management; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

● Minimum 1-2 years of experience in project management/coordination

● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines.

● Clear Criminal Record Check

● Must submit a resume and a copy of a Class 5 Driver's License with application

● Must have own transportation and will be required to provide proof of registration and insurance for their vehicle

Preferred Assets (not mandatory)

● Experience preparing funding proposals, business cases, and reports for government or corporate funders
