POSITION: MAINTENANCE MANAGER

DEPARTMENT: C.T.A. MAINTENANCE


SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Ø Under the direction of the Tipahaskahn Kamik General Manager, the Manager is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of all Nation Buildings; such as electrical, heating and plumbing etc. Responsible for seeking out contractors for renovations and repairs on all Nation Buildings. Oversee staff consisting of Custodian and Maintenance Helpers. Hours of work are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30p.m. Monthly reports on department progress and activities to the General Manager and Tipahaskahn Kamik Committee.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø The development of an annual operation and maintenance budget (and quarterly operation budget) including work-plan, goals and objectives and mandate of the department.

Ø Coordinates staff training, development and discipline as per the Samson Cree Nation Nipisihkopahk Employment Policy.

Ø Oversees all aspects of facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring optimal functioning and upkeep while managing budgets, personnel and safety protocols.

Ø Coordinate repair work and ensure work is compliant with building safety codes and standards.

Ø Ability to maintain clear communication with other departments as needed to provide updates and information as needed.

Ø Prepare paylists for authorization for payable, payroll, mileage ect.

Ø Ensures cleanliness and upkeep of all Nation buildings (including entrances and walkways).

Ø Tactful and discreet when working with confidential and sensitive information.

Ø Meet Bonafide Occupational Requirements (ability to lift up to 50 lbs.)

Ø Responsible for 5 Day Custodians, 1 Groundskeeper and 2 Maintenance Helpers.

Ø Repairs and maintenance of all equipment and shop truck.

Ø First contact for security services such as surveillance and fire alarms.

Ø Regular steam cleaning and floor waxing on all community buildings.

Ø On Call Emergency 24/7.

Ø Perform other related duties as requested by the Tipahaskahn Kamik General Manager and/or Band Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ø Must have minimum High School Diploma or equivalent – Journeyman Tradesman would be an asset.

Ø Experience in all building trades such as electrical, heating and plumbing.

Ø Must have valid Class 5 Drivers Licence.

Ø Own vehicle is a must in case of Emergency Calls.

Ø Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Management).

Ø Must have experience in administering First Nations programs and administering operating budgets.

Ø Comfortable working in office and field environments.

Ø Must sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
