Position: Interim Assistant Band Administrator-Department: Governance Samson Cree Nation

Summary of duties:

Under the direction of the Band Administrator, the Interim Assistant Band Administrator supports the implementation and oversight of Programs, Policies, and Procedures established by Chief and Council of Samson Cree Nation. This position provides continuity in governance and administration while ensuring accountability and effective program delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Band Administrator in supervising and providing direction to Senior Managers, Program Managers, and Executive staff.

• Monitor programs to ensure compliance with Policies and Procedures established by Chief and Council.

• Ensure program budgets and expenditures align with approved allocations, and assist in planning and rationalization of activities.

• Consolidate and prepare reports from Senior Managers and Program Managers for presentation to Chief and Council.

• Assist in drafting legislation, by-laws, regulations, and program criteria for approval by Chief and Council.

• Support and facilitate Senior Management Meetings, including agenda preparation and follow-up.

• Encourage networking and collaboration between Nation programs.

• Support discussions and resolution of program issues with Chief and Council, Senior Managers, and Program Managers.

• Complete tasks as assigned by the Band Administrator.

Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to mediate, negotiate, and resolve conflicts.

• Capacity to analyze financial, program, and staffing reports.

• Proficiency in interpreting government policy, regulations, and legal documents.

• Ability to adapt under pressure and manage changing priorities.

• Knowledge of Canada Labour Code and Federal Employment Standards. Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Business or Public Administration, Political Science, Native Studies, Sociology, or related fields.

• Senior administrative or management experience, preferably with experience in Finance and Personnel Administration.

• Valid Class 5 License (copy required).

• Proficiency with computers and office software.

• Criminal Record Check (required).

• Two letters of reference (required).

• Ability to speak and understand Cree considered an asset.

• May be subject to Drug Test.
