Summary:

[Samson Cree Nation] is looking to hire a self-motivated individual to fill the Energy Champion position to support the Energy InSites program. This position offers a flexible part-time contract within the life of the project.

The Energy InSites program is designed to reduce energy consumption and emissions from public and multi-unit residential buildings in Indigenous communities. The Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources (CIER) and the LEAP Group (LEAP) will help partner communities understand their energy consumption and optimize energy and emission performance within the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Energy Champion will be employed by [Smart Renewable Energy Department] to support the goals and objectives of the project. Responsibilities include:

● Communicate with community members, LEAP, CIER and local building owners/managers

● Coordinate site visits and support meetings with LEAP, CIER and local building owners/managers

● Support introductions to community members for engagement and communication purposes

● Support LEAP and CIER in obtaining utility consumption data from participating buildings/owners

● Support LEAP and CIER in communicating with and obtaining Band Council Resolutions as required

● Support LEAP and CIER in the development of project plans and business cases/proposals

● Pursue professional development opportunities

Qualifications:

● Strong written and oral communication skills

● Motivated self-starter

● Ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships

● Enthusiastic with a positive attitude

● Experience or interest related to energy consumption, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions

● Ability to travel to all areas within the community, including having access to a vehicle if required
