Commercial Lines Property Underwriter We currently have an opening for a Commercial Lines Property Underwriter for our Northern Alberta Branch based out of our Edmonton office. Reporting to the Commercial Lines Manager for Northern Alberta, the successful candidate will contribute to the achievement of a profitable and growing portfolio of business by effectively and efficiently underwriting risks.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Review quote requests and applications to determine risk acceptability, policy terms and rates to process new business; • Review and process renewals, endorsements and cancellations; • Place facultative reinsurance on risks that exceed capacity; • Provide underwriting advice and answer inquiries from brokers; • Liaise with personal lines, claims and accounting departments on mutual concerns; • Visit brokers to communicate underwriting approaches, facilitating public relations efforts and solving problems; • Attend industry functions; • Various other duties as required.

Required Qualifications • 3 – 5 years of commercial property and casualty experience in a similar role or a combination of education and experience; • Knowledge of policy wordings and rating guidelines; • Strong written and verbal communication; • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills; • Strong computer skills; • CIP/FCIP designation (or working towards) would be an asset. CLAIMS ADVISOR – ACCIDENT BENEFITS We currently have an opening for a Claims Advisor – Accident Benefits in our Calgary office. Reporting to the Claims Manger, this role involves the handling of both the Automobile and Accident Benefits portion of the claim, in most cases.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  Confirming and explaining coverage is in place and how it applies to reported claims  Investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling total loss claims  Determining liability  Explaining the claims process to clients for both automobile and accident benefits  Obtaining recorded statements  Collecting and reviewing medical documents and treatment plans  Obtaining and verifying employment information  Calculating benefit entitlements  Authorizing treatment and arranging appropriate billing with clients or providers  Corresponding with doctors, lawyers, treatment providers, employers, and clients  Identify questionable claims  Requesting and arranging MSE’s, IME’s and IDE’s  Arranging for treatment at specialized facilities  Documenting activity on the file and issuing payments on a timely basis  Liaising with Brokers and Underwriters  Various other duties as required

Required Qualifications  Minimum of 3+ years of adjusting experience in a similar role (with at least 1 year of Accident Benefits experience would be preferred)  Post-secondary diploma or degree and/or working towards a CIP/FCIP designation would be considered an asset  Ability to negotiate and critically analyze data and be decisive  Familiarity with auto contract and laws applicable to Accident Benefits coverage  Awareness of medical terminology and medical abbreviations  Knowledge of common types of traumas, their treatment and recovery periods  Familiarity with human anatomy and physiology and the psychological consequences of trauma would be helpful in this position  Possess highly developed interpersonal, organizational and time management skills  Strong written and verbal communication skills

Claims Advisor - Auto We currently have an opening for an Auto Claims Advisor in Calgary. Reporting to the Claims Manager, this role involves investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling claims arising under the policy. More specifically, the responsibilities would include the following:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  Confirming coverage is in place and applies to reported claims.  Obtaining recorded statements.  Verifying entitlement to coverage, determining liability, explaining coverage and claims process to insureds and claimants.  Calculating entitlements and issuing payments on a timely basis.  Negotiating total loss settlements, disposal of salvage and documenting all activity.  Identifying questionable claims.  Liaising with brokers and underwriters and other industry personnel.  Arranging repairs and rentals.  Various other duties as required.

Required Qualifications  Ability to negotiate and critical analyze data and be decisive.  Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to take on challenges.  Possess highly developed organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.  Strong written and verbal communication skills.  Post-secondary diploma or degree and/or working towards a CIP/FCIP designation would be considered an asset.  A minimum of 2 years’ experience dealing with auto claims would be ideal.
