SUMMARY: The Outreach Worker works under the supervision of the Executive Director. The Outreach Worker functions with a high degree of independence, flexibility and integrity to help promote positive living skills and reduce the negative impact of alcohol and drug abuse. The Outreach Worker maintains close contact with the client’s family and other community agencies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

· Graduate from a recognized college or university with a degree or equivalent in Social Work, Child Youth Care, Psychology, Sociology and/ or preferably in the counselling service sector or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, ability and skills.

· Must possess a current certificate in the field of Addiction Treatment.

· Planning, organizing, analytical and communications, some counselling knowledge and skills may be required.

· A demonstrated positive role model for staff, clients and the communities at large.

· Good written and oral communication skills.

· Supervise the provision of family training services for clients’ families. 

· Knowledge of traditional and contemporary practices and experience in working with Elders and clinicians.

GENERAL REQUIREMENT:

· Minimum of two (2) years of sobriety.

· Must possess a current First Aid and CPR Certificate.

· Must possess a valid driver’s license and submit a driver’s abstract.

· Provide a Criminal and Child Welfare Information System (CWIS) check, as required.

· Ability to speak a First Nations language would be an asset.

· Knowledge of Maskwacis First Nations culture and traditions would be an asset.

· Willingness to take training as required.

· Must maintain client confidentiality

· Must be an ABSTAINER from drugs and alcohol
