About KKI Kanawemahwasowin Kamik Inc. (KKI) is setting a foundation for future success by establishing our own culturally appropriate children services legal system to protect the individual and collective rights of Ermineskin Cree Nation children, youth, families and members residing off-reserve. KKI is currently exercising jurisdiction under The Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit & Metis Children, Youth and Families (formally Bill C-92) when it comes to a child’s/youth placement, best Interest of the indigenous child, prenatal and prevention. Through self-determination and collaboration with the community, KKI helps shape the preservation and revitalization of our Cree language, cultural identity and community wellbeing. KKI is located in central Maskwacis, Alberta which is a part of Treaty Six Territory. About the Role Currently undergoing a period of growth and transformation, Kanawemahwasowin Kamik Inc. are seeking to hire an energetic finance leader to model business and Cree ethics across the organization. Joining a skilled, collective and collaborative team, this role will engage with shareholders and allies to provide insights that support organizational growth and sustainability while ensuring compliance on all statutory matters and identifying areas of improvement for financial operations across payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and accounting functions. Who we are Looking for? We are seeking a true strategic Finance team lead with the confidence to design and manage financial management processes for growth. The successful applicant will have a track record of success with budgeting, financial planning, financial technology systems, management reporting and analysis and possess collaborative, innovative and results driven mindset. Possessing exceptional leadership and people skills with a natural ability to listen, learn, influence and build effective relationships with shareholders across all levels of the organization will be key to success. Credentials Post-secondary education in finance, business or related discipline from a recognized institution, along with ten (10) years of work-related experience (or combination of education/experience). Possesses three (3) years experience working in a senior financial position and a minimum of three years experience working in a public sector. Requirements Due to travel requirements of the position, a valid driver’s license and possession of a personal vehicle is essential. To meet the organizations compliance for working with vulnerable persons in instances such as organizational events, a successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Screening) and CYIM check must be provided.
