Summary:
Under the direction of Hawk Radio Manager, the disk jockey reads news, weather, commercial and public service messages, and hosts live events as well as entertainment and information programs for broadcast on radio.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Have the ability to develop a music format.
• Edit commercials, update computers on a daily basis.
• Run programming "on air" according to station schedules. Install music into the music match jukebox.
• Return all CDs to their rightful place at all times.
• Keep the listening audience informed in regard to public service announcements, Job Descriptions, Cultural Events, and Emergency Events.
• Keep a neat and tidy workstation.
• Answer calls from listeners.
• Maintain equipment to ensure that they are kept in good working condition.
• Must have the ability to produce commercials and promos.
• Performs other related duties requested by the Manager.
• Absolutely NO foul language
• Speaking and understanding the Cree language is a definite asset
• Must be dependable, reliable, punctual, flexible, and able to fill in on other DJ programs.
• Ability to work without supervision
• Negotiating skills for sales
• Maintains a neat and tidy office
• Establishes good public relations with Nation Membership and outside sources.
• Do A Pow-wow Format and Research Material from the Program.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Understands and adheres to all department policies and procedures,
• Will perform administrative support to the Hawk Radio Manager in accomplishing their roles and responsibilities. This includes:
• Produces and/ or assists in the production of all required internal and external reports, regularly review progress on standard department deliverables and takes appropriate action to ensure timely completion of all department tasks,
• Supports the Hawk Radio Manager, and Business Development Senior Manager as needed in addressing any personnel matters within the department, Verifies and records department staff compliance with the departments administrative and financial policies and procedures, including travel expense claims and staff attendance reports,
• Prepare financial, expenditures, and payment authorization forms, and administrative documents for authorization by the coordinator, such as cheque requisitions, purchase orders,
Knowledge and Abilities:
• Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent.
• Office Phone etiquette
• Ability to take direction
• Must have good enunciation, be self-confident, and express a high level of interest and enthusiasm.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong active listening skills,
• Proven planning, prioritizing, organizing, and coordination skills,
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful and effective relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts,
• Advanced computer skills and use of MS Office,
• Ability to speak/and or understand the Cree language is considered an asset.
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
• Clear Criminal Record Check
