Summary
Under the direction of the Nipisihkopahk Wellness and Social Development Senior Manager, the Community Wellness Manager will be responsible for the overall supervision of activities, programs, services and employees of the Samson Community Wellness department. The Community Wellness Manager is also responsible for participating in monthly team meetings with all department managers within the NWSD department structure.
Roles and Responsibilities:
➔ Develop, implement, amend and update policies and establish procedures for all programs offered by the department.
➔ Recommends policy changes and/or amendments to the social development department to assist in streamlining processes.
➔ Prepares and submits proposals, work plans and activity reports to government funding departments; meets all established deadline dates.
➔ Develop the yearly department work-plan and budget.
➔ Advises senior management of the government policy changes and recommends immediate responses, procedures, protocols and advises necessary correspondence to reflect it.
➔ Authorizes all program budget expenditures; paylists, purchase orders, etc.
➔ Maintain effective communication with the Samson Community Wellness department by coordinating monthly staff meetings, weekly staff updates and clientele briefings as required.
➔ Supervises all support staff and completes yearly job performance evaluations and reviews
➔ Develops the staff employee wellness plans with each support staff to determine individual requirements.
➔ Review and approve the monthly program schedule.
➔ Develops and coordinates educational programs, workshops, and conferences geared toward wellness and encouraging individuals to make healthier lifestyle choices.
➔ Meets with community-based education and training programs and service providers, and collects reports and client participation information
➔ Crisis intervention determines the level of clientele needs based on the intake applications.
➔ Provides support for crisis counselling, group counselling, and one-on-one counselling as required.
➔ Ensure all members who experience family violence are provided with assistance and referrals to outside agencies and support services to appropriate shelters.
Qualifications:
★ Post-secondary education; University degree in the Human Services or Social Studies field
★ Counselling certificates, adult education, knowledge or mental health background is an asset.
★ Must have a minimum 5) five years of experience in management, administration and outselling or crisis intervention skills
★ Must have the capability to communicate both in Cree and English
★ Must have excellent communication, writing, and computer skills.
★ Must be reliable, mature, tolerant, non-judgmental and manage stress effectively.
★ Must be willing to assist in responding calmly to crises and can communicate effectively.
★ Familiar with issues and factors affecting the community and an ability/awareness of the community resources and agencies that can be accessed and referred to
