GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Executive Director/Children’s Commissioner, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the accounting and financial accuracy of financial records for Asikiw Mostos O’pikinawisin (AMO). The Chief Financial Officer will plan, organize and administer the accounting systems for AMO and establishment accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures. Responsible for the finance unit team in the delivery of responsibilities.
Service Responsibilities
• Lead, influence and collaborate with Finance team to use AMO resources in the forecasting, long range planning, and decision-making to develop financial and business strategies and resolve issues related to CFS programs and services for Louis Bull Tribe,
• Development of the operating budget for AMO, monitoring and evaluating and reporting on variances to budget and preparing related forecasts, analyzing and approving the correct overhead allocation and recoveries from capital projects,
• Analyze results against budget and forecasts to identify and validate variances, projections, trends and historical costs for both reporting/presenting and to utilize in future financial models/report,
• Provide financial analytics, advice and assistance in the development of sound defensible business cases for new or revised initiatives,
• Provide leadership to the Senior Management Team In the development of financial deliverables that align with financial accounting directives and policies,
• Perform general accounting functions, including operating the general ledger system, entering journal entries,
• Participate in completing month-end closing/reporting,
• Examine and verify the accuracy of work performed by AP/AR clerks,
• Authorize routine payments, deposits, and withdrawals,
• Ensure monthly bank reconciliations are processed accurately,
• Record grants and other income accurately,
• Ensure expenses are coded and processed to appropriate GL accounts/Programs,
• Analyze financial information, identify trends, make recommendations, collect information, and prepare reports,
• Perform month-end and year-end reconciliations and journal entry transactions,
• Demonstrate proficiency in complex ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300, ADP Payroll etc.) – Training would be provided,
• Perform other job-related duties/projects as required.
Education and Experience
o Chartered Professional Accountant designation-CPA
o Minimum 5 years experience working with an Indigenous organization,
o Must submit a clear criminal record check,
o Must submit a driver’s abstract,
Remuneration
The rate of pay will be determined by the successful applicant’s credentials.
