GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Intervention Manager, the Assessor will be required to implement the Case Work Practice Model within the scope of employment. The Assessor will demonstrate the ability and assess risk for children, youth and families in the Nation using strong interviewing skills to collect appropriate information to make a determination of the nature and degree of risk to a child under AMO Law and Prevention Act. In addition, the Assessor will be required to conduct Safety and detailed evaluations.
Service Responsibilities
The Assessor will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities;
· Receive incoming referrals of allegations of a child in need of protection from Tribal Membership, collateral agencies, professionals and anonymous callers
· Process incoming referrals of allegations of a child in need of protection and determine the eligibility and disposition of such referrals in consultation with intake/After hours Supervisor and when appropriate, develop investigation plans.
· Conduct child protection investigations in compliance with AMO Prevention Act and Louis Bull Tribe AMO Law including assessment, of immediate safety needs of the Children, developing safety plans, risk assessment, interviewing collaterals, and make a decision on verification of the child protection allegation.
· Use multi-disciplinary approach in case work practice.
· Responsible for identifying, documenting, and responding to physical, emotional and behavioral indicators of abuse and/or neglect.
· Responsible for developing and applying strategies to engage and involve children, youth and families in the on-going assessment and case planning process.
· Will be responsible to ensure all required documentation is completed.
· Will be responsible for preparing court documents and proceedings.
· Enter information on CYIM in accordance to CWPM timelines.
· Information families about AMO Law and community support services that may benefit them in achieving their goals and assist them with the Referral process.
· Provide after hours coverage related to designated intake AMO Society’s services where required and respond to emergency calls on a timely manner.
· Must be willing to participate in activities events and healing circles
· Must have working knowledge of Nehiyawak (Cree) culture, customs, traditions, teachings and practices.
· Active participation in the Kisipatnahk Nation with building knowledge of the teachings from the Elders
· Must be able to work flexible hours.
· Other duties assigned by Intervention Manager.

Qualifications/Knowledge and Skills
· MSW or BSW with related experience in social work.
· A related University Degree or Diploma plus 3 years work experience in protection. And related experience working with families and children may be considered.
· Completion of delegation training will be considered an asset.
· Knowledge of Louis Bull Tribe AMO Law, Bill C-92, and Louis Bull Tribe Constitution.
· Completion of Delegation training.
· Strong communication skills written and verbal.
· Microsoft word and basic computer skills
· Knowledge of the Louis Bull Tribe culture and traditions
· Ability to speak Cree is considered a strong asset.
· Experience working with Indigenous Youth in school or community settings.
· Experience in public speaking
· Strong problem solving
· Excellent time management
· High level of organizational skills and dealing in high stress area
· Registration and maintain registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers
· Valid Drivers License an access to reliable transportation
· Current Drivers abstract
· Will be required to become a Commissioner of Oaths
