Foster Care Worker

Position Summary: Reporting to the Foster Care/TAP Supervisor, the Foster Care Worker will be required to provide supervision and support to foster parents to maximize their ability to care for children. The Foster Care Worker will be responsible for licensing foster homes and ensuring standards and policy are adhered too. The Foster Care Worker will adhere to quality assurance practices of related child intervention legislation, policies, procedures, along with the core principles of ACFSS. The Foster Care Worker will carry out the mandate of Akamihk Child and Family Services Society, the Executive Director, along with other duties as directed by the Foster Care/TAP Supervisor; and ensure that the Maskwacis Traditional Cree Language and Culture is respected, promoted and practiced in all aspects of the ACFSS.


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receives referrals/assigns caregivers, collects basic information, reviews information and sends out necessary documents, forms, and any other information needed

• Arranges for caregivers to receive training needed

• Assists caregivers to complete all necessary paperwork for timely completion

• Collaborates with Supervisor and caregivers in case planning

• Helps caregivers understand the plan and their role in the success of the plan

• Assesses caregivers, analyze information, ongoing assessment activities and monitoring to ensure safety and wellbeing of the children in care

• Evaluates and assesses children developmental progress and areas of risk

• Completes re-assessments to monitor and make recommendations/decisions based on ability of caregiver and needs of the child

• Must complete CICIO entries and all documentation/reports required as per file standards on all assigned matters

• Must be punctual • Must be able to take direction

• Work collaboratively will all ACFSS staff

• Communicate effectively with all clients, coworkers, service providers, and community members

• Must Respect and have knowledge of the Maskwacis Cree Traditional Language and Culture

• Must maintain a high level of confidentiality

• Must have effective listening and verbal communication skills

• Must have knowledge of community resources

• Must know and adhere to the code of conduct and ethics of the organization

• Willing to attend training that pertains to job duties, as required by ACFSS


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, Social Work Diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in Children's Services, Social Work or equivalent.

• Completion of CYFEA Delegation training.
