About KKI Kanawemahwasowin Kamik (KKI) is a Neyaskweyahk (Ermineskin) based program for Children and Families. KKI primarily serves Ermineskin Cree Nation and its members and providing programs to strengthen families and prevent involvement of Child Intervention system. KKI integrates Cree Traditions, Language and Elder wisdom into all aspects of its services while providing advocacy and support for Ermineskin families engaged with Child and Family Services.
Summary of Position KKI is looking for a permanent full-time Receptionist who is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional, and culturally safe environment for all Nation members, clients, families, staff, and visitors. The Receptionist ensures that every interaction reflects the values of respect, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity central to KKI’s mission of supporting Indigenous children, youth, and families.
The Receptionist is responsible for:
• Greet and welcome all Nation members, visitors, clients, and staff in a professional, friendly, and culturally sensitive manner, ensuring a positive and respectful experience.
• Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries promptly and accurately
• Manage the reception area, maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
• Provide accurate and helpful information to callers and visitors regarding KKI services, programs, and Nation resources, or direct them to the appropriate staff or department.
• Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Receive, sort, log, and distribute incoming mail, packages, and faxes promptly and accurately; prepare and send outgoing mail and coordinate courier services.
• Maintain accurate records, including visitor logs, phone call logs, and appointment schedules.
• Provide administrative support to staff and departments as assigned
• Assist in coordinating meeting room bookings and ensuring setup for meetings
• Monitor and update KKI bulletin boards with current program information, events, and announcements.
• Order, receive, stock, and maintain inventory of office supplies and Nation resources
• Assist with onboarding new staff and volunteers by preparing orientation materials.
• Provide backup support to other administrative staff when needed.
• Participate in KKI monthly events, cultural activities, and Nation gatherings to build rapport and trust.
• Uphold confidentiality and adhere to KKI policies, privacy laws, and ethical standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned from time-to-time by the Office Manager, Director of Operations, or HR of KKI.
Required Qualifications The successful candidate’s minimum requirements are:
• High School Diploma, or Post-secondary certificate/diploma in Office Administration, Business, or related field
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a front desk or administrative support role.
• Previous experience working in a non-profit, Indigenous organization, healthcare or community-based service setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with multi-line telephone systems and office equipment.
• Understanding of the principles of client service and customer care.
• Experience working with First Nations or affiliated organizations.
• Valid Class 5 drivers license, access to personal vehicle and satisfactory Criminal Record, Drivers Abstract and Child intervention check
• Ability to work flexible hours and travel if required
