Summary:
A one (1) year term under the direction of the Water Projects Coordinator. The Water Quality Technicians are responsible for conducting comprehensive water quality data from the Rural Samson homes as outlined in the duties and responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ø Water quality testing
· Conduct thorough water testing in accordance with established protocols
· Analyze water samples for parameters such as pH, Turbidity, Dissolved Oxygen and other bacterial contaminants.
Ø Geographic Information System Data Collection Field Work
· Collecting water and wastewater infrastructure data
· All utilizing available equipment to assess and capture GIS data in Samson Cree Nation’s GIS software (Louis Tool Kit)
Ø Reporting
· Compile detailed reports summarizing water quality findings and water/wastewater infrastructure condition information
· Provide clear and concise recommendations based on collected data
· Develop project plans, timelines and budgets
Ø Equipment Maintenance
· Maintain and calibrate testing equipment regularly to ensure accurate results
Ø Collaboration
· Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including environmental engineers and Project Managers
Ø Safety
· Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during fieldwork and lab activities
Qualifications:
· Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent, Project Management training is an asset
· Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel), experience with GIS software is an asset
· Previous experience in water quality testing is preferable but training will also be provided
· Familiarity with relevant regulations and industry standards
· Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Knowledge of the Cree language would be an asset
· Comfortable working in office and field environments
· Must submit resume, job related certification, copy of Class 5 Drivers License and a copy of Criminal Record Check
