Wage - $19.37 - $ 23.01 an hour


Description:

Heritage Family Services is seeking full-time Child Care Workers, Awake Night and Team Lead for multiple programs located in Lacombe, Alberta.


The ideal candidate will have likely be characterized by others as authentic, service-focused, responsible, organized and outgoing, and who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop healthy relationships through a trauma-informed lens with children and youth in care.


Child Care Worker/Awake Night


Schedule - 4 on 2 off, 8hr shifts/ 4 on and 4 off 8hr shifts/ 3 on 3 off 12 hour shifts/ 3 on 3 off 8 hour shifts


The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:


- Build trusting relationships, respect individuality, and support each youth’s self-esteem.

- Ensure safety by following security protocols, and maintaining a calm, stable environment.

- Carry out daily routines, youth-centered activities, and meal preparation.

- Provide care that meets each youth’s emotional needs, advocate on their behalf, and ensure access to the Child and Youth Advocate.

- Support youth in developing life skills, including social skills, problem-solving, and self-regulation.


The successful candidate will have:


- Must be 18 or older.

- Post-secondary education (or enrollment) in Social Work or Human Services is an asset.

- Minimum 2 years of direct care experience.

- Skilled in therapeutic care and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), with knowledge of child development, trauma, and grief.

- Respect and understand Indigenous traditions, diverse cultures, identities, genders, and sexualities.

- Able to communicate cross-culturally and work effectively with marginalized individuals and groups.



Team Lead


Schedule - 4 on 2 off, 8hr shifts/3 on 3 off 12 hour shifts


The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:


- Build trusting relationships, respect individuality, and support each youth’s self-esteem.

- Ensure a safe, secure, and emotionally stable environment by following protocols.

- Lead shifts by supporting, coaching, and guiding clients and staff.

- Carry out daily routines, youth-focused programs, and meal preparation.

- Provide nurturing care, advocate for youth, and ensure access to the Child and Youth Advocate.

- Help youth develop life skills, including social skills, problem-solving, and self-regulation.


The successful candidate will have:


- Diploma (2 years) in Human Services, 3 years relevant experience with children/youth, and over 18 years old.

- Skilled in therapeutic care and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), with knowledge of child development, trauma, and grief.

- Respectful of Indigenous traditions and diverse identities, including appropriate cultural care and correct use of terminology and pronouns.

- Able to communicate cross-culturally and work effectively with marginalized individuals and groups.


Mandatory Requirements:


If you are selected as the successful candidate, you will be required to provide the following documents as a condition of employment upon receiving the job offer


A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months


A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months


Proof of eligibility to work in Canada

A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months
