The Akamihk Community Development Society (ACDS) is committed to providing the Montana First Nation with quality, reliable services to meet the needs of Montana First Nation. We are currently seeking a reliable, self-motivated, energetic individual to become a part of a great service team. A team member who will be working clients that may have barriers to employment and education or lack access to resources and opportunity.

Position Type: Full Time

Salary Range: Dependant on Experience and Education

Work Location: Maskwacis, Alberta

Open Date: January 16, 2024

Close Date: Until Suitable candidate found

Position Duties:

● Project intake, comprehensive assessment, develop case plans, direct involvement with program planning, implementation and follow up of project and with clients.

● Promotion of the organization and the programming.

● Progress reports, attendance, data entry and any other reports required, attend meetings and liaison with other departments and organizations.

● Ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of reporting.

● Creating and maintaining partnerships with other organizations and business for opportunity and services for the project.

● Serves as an advocate for client to improve access to resources and opportunity for increased livelihood

● Will provide information and facilitation about services, provide practical supports, assist in filling out forms and provide advocacy. They will also foster social supports by connecting them to other forms of resources such as but not limited to culture, education, health, mental health.

● Deliver participants transportation and appointments

● Report to the Program Manager

● Any other duties as assigned

Requirements:

● Valid class 5 licence with clean driver’s abstract

● Have own transportation

● Criminal Record and Child Welfare Investigation check.

● Reliable, Must be Punctual, Professional attitude, Ability to adapt and work under pressure.

● Social work diploma or related field.

Some Post-secondary education and experience will be considered.

Position Duties: Career counsellor provides individual career and job search counselling for students and alumni including self-assessment, major decision-making, career exploration, internships, and job search coaching.

● comprehensive career assessment, develop case plans, direct involvement with program planning, implementation and follow up of project and with clients.

● Assists students with preparing resumes, interviewing skills and searching for jobs & internships electronically

● Engaging students in career development and preparation to make the best use of their talents, resources and experiences

● Creating opportunities for students to connect with alumni and employers

● Developing and maintaining strong relationships with local, provincial

● Promote employment to graduating students, current students and alumni within all academic departments and in the community

● Advise graduate students, via one-on-one meetings and group career seminars, to help them secure jobs and internships by using industry and company knowledge to provide targeted advice and support

● Deliver participants transportation and appointments

● Report to the Program Manager
